I’ve been enjoying colouring with my new Zig clean colour brush pens, and wanted to make a card using some of the images. I don’t have many outline images at the moment, but one of my favourites set is the Altenew Oriental Orchid stamp set and it has outline images perfect for colouring.
I started by heat embossing various orchid flower and leaf images in white embossing powder onto watercolour card.
I chose the colours so I could join in the first challenge from newly named craft store, Seven Hills Crafts. I chose the third colour palette, selecting from it the orange, yellow, green and white colours.
I coloured in my images using the Zig clean colour real brush pens, mostly blending without water. I then fussy cut out the images.
For the card base, I added a quilted stitch die card panel, trimmed down to fit an A6 card base with a border all around, attached with foam tape for dimension. The quilted stitch die is a great way to add interest to a background without taking focus away from the images. A patterned paper could be too distracting here so this is a great alternative.
I added circle die cuts to the card, behind where I would add the sentiment and flowers, to help contain the images a little.
The sentiment is from the Oriental Orchid stamp set. I stamped this in black dye ink onto plain white card, then attached to the card.
I tried lots of different layouts for the flowers and leaves, and finally settled on something I liked. I attached them with strong glue, then added some sparkle gems and sequins around them.
