Daily Marker Colouring Challenge: Orange Poppies

I love orange poppies and thought it would be fun to make a background of orange poppies to use on a card. A bit of a change from the usual red poppies.

How I made this card:

I stamped a piece of watercolour paper with poppies and leaves in Versafine black ink, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Using three colours of Zig clean colour real brush pens (yellow, orange, dark orange), I blended them together to colour the poppies. I used two colours of green for the leaves.  I then trimmed down the watercolour background and attached it to an a6 card front.

I used a tag die to cut out two tags, one in white and one in orange. I stamped a greeting on the orange tag with Versafine black ink, then heat embossed it with sparkle embossing powder. It’s really pretty when it catches the light.

I layered the tags on the card, adhering the white tag directly on the background, and using foam tape on the orange tag for a bit of dimension.

I played around with sequins and embellishments but finally decided that less was more and only used a few around the sentiment.
